People suffering from depression can experience a variety of depression symptoms. It’s important to remember that depression is different from sadness. Severe forms of depression can be debilitating, taking over people’s lives.
Some people feel empty, lifeless or even pathetic. These and other feelings are different from the mood swings we all go through sometimes. Below is a list of depression symptoms people may experience.
- Feelings of helplessness and hopelessness, it might feel like nothing will ever change or get better. Talk about giving up, no reasons to be happy and having nothing to live for.
- Loss of interest in daily activities, hobbies, social activities and even sex no longer seem like fun. Besides that, people with depression symptoms often don’t feel up to it or aren’t in the mood.
- Appetite or weight changes, a sudden increase or decrease in weight and appetite, more than a 5% difference in a month.
- Sleep changes, either sleeping more than normal/usual (hyposomnia) or less (insomnia).
- Irritability or restlessness, low tolerance level and feeling on edge. Being easily triggered by what might seem to others as nothing to worry about.
- Loss of energy, feeling tired, fatigued or even drained. Simple or easy tasks may be exhausting. Even getting out bed can seem too daunting.
- Self-loathing, feeling guilty, useless, worthless and hopeless.
- Concentration problems, having problems concentrating, focusing or remembering things.
- Unexplained aches and pains, physical symptoms that have no clear or apparent reasons. This includes unexplained headaches, stomach pains, back pain and aching muscles.
These symptoms can be treated and managed with different ways of overcoming depression.
Take care,
Wow, very interesting, I also find that a large percentage of people experience these types of depression symptoms when they have unhappy relationships. Is there some way either you could do a post that has to do with marriage, or we write a post together about getting through depression and marriage?
Let me know.
